On the 17^th June 2025, the Eastern Regional Council held its Annual General Meeting at the Palace Hotel, Sliema. During the meeting, the Executive Secretary, Regional Managers and Accountant presented the Administrative report and delivered engaging presentations on key topics including waste management, the environment, culture and financial accounts. The evening also featured a thought-provoking discussion entitled ‘Modernising Local Government’ with a special focus on youth engagement and artificial intelligence. The panel brought together esteemed experts from diverse sectors such as:

• Prof. Matthew Montebello, Head of Department at the Faculty of ICT, UM.
• Ms. Miriam Teuma, CEO of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ
• Ms. Lucienne Vella, Senior Social Worker and Service Area Leader with the Foundation for Social Welfare Services
• Mr. Carl Betts, Councillor from the Ħal Lija Local Council
