For World Clean Up Week 2022, the Eastern Regional Council organised/helped organise eight clean-ups across the following localities: Il-Gżira, Ħal-Għargħur, Is-Swieqi, Birkirkara, L-Imsida, Tal-Pietà, San Ġiljan and Ta’ Xbiex. Following a collaboration with NGO ”Zibel”, Il-Gżira, Ta’ Xbiex and San Ġiljan conducted underwater clean ups along the coast. In the other localities, land clean ups where conducted, collecting a total of 181 full garbage bags of waste. In addition to the environmental benefit, these clean-ups served as a social activity bringing people from all walks of life to a common goal.
