Over a two-day period, the Eastern Regional Council hosted the European Committee of the Regions’ SEDEC Commission for conference on ‘Harnessing Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Enhance Education, Employment, and Environmental Sustainability and a subsequent external meeting. This two day event took place at the AX Palace Hotel, Sliema. Over 140 delegates attended from all across Europe in order to discuss the potential of AI for smart and sustainable regions as well as AI in the workplace. Notable speakers during the conference were Hon. Byron Camilleri, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Hon. Clyde Caruana, Minister for Finance, and Ms. Heike Raab, State Secretary of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Government and Chair of the SEDEC Commission. Following the conference, delegates had the opportunity to visit Valletta for a cultural tour before being treated to a Gala Dinner. The conference was then followed on the next day by an external meeting of political groups and closed door coordination talks.
