For the busier summer period, the Eastern Regional Council contacted Saving Our Blue and proposed a number of beaches were we believe Ballot Box Cigarette Bins should be installed.
Most of our suggestions were taken on board. During mid-May 2025 a total of six bins were installed at the following beaches: Exiles Beach – Tas-Sliema, Tigne Beach – Tas-Sliema, Fond Għadir Beach – Tas-Sliema, Balluta Beach – St. Julian’s, St. George’s Bay St. Julian’s and Rock Beach – Ta’ Xbiex.
The bins are emptied by Saving Our Blue, and will be collected once the summer period is over, thus during the beginning of October 2025.
We encourage all smokers to properly dispose of their cigarette butts when enjoying these wonderful beaches.
