The Eastern Regional Council has recently commissioned 12 Bird Nest Boxes, crafted in consultation with BirdLife Malta, adhering to the outlined specifications by the organisation.
Each box is destined for installation in one of the twelve localities comprising the Eastern Region. The primary objective is to provide a sanctuary for the Spotted Flycatcher (Żanżarell tat-Tikek) and Swift (Rundun) bird species, encouraging their multiplication on our Islands.
In the spirit of collaboration, the Eastern Regional Council is hosting two painting workshops in partnership with the Birkirkara First Scout Group and the Iklin Scouts. During which, the children will work together in teams to paint the Bird Nest Boxes.
We have decided to collaborate with Scout Groups to instil a sense of belonging and ownership; whilst allowing their creative side to flourish on an unusual ‘canvas’.
