ESF+ 03.246 Lifelong Learning Programme
The Executive Secretary and Regional Managers of the Eastern Regional Council, along with representatives from Malta’s Local Councils and the Local Government Division, have just wrapped up an incredible, high-energy training trip to Finland and Estonia!
Delivered under the ESF+ 03.246 Lifelong Learning Programme, this journey was all about bringing world-class practices home to build stronger, future-ready communities.
They dove into workshops to upgrade local governance tools such as:
Exploring organisational culture and and creating staff wellbeing strategies
Practicing crisis communication and mastering team dynamics
Mapping out local governance for 2035 and tackling public service root causes
They also learnt directly from local frontrunners in Helsinki and Tallinn:
Helsinki City Hall & Tourism Unit: Exchanged ideas on green initiatives and balancing tourism growth with community well-being
Oodi Central Library: Toured this world-famous facility to see how it acts as an adaptive community hub including digital resources and public co-operation
Tallinn City Council: A presentation about the city, explaining innovative concepts about culture and education
They head back to Malta fully inspired, packed with practical tools and ready to drive fresh, citizen-focused leadership across our localities!
A big thank you to the Local Government Division, Fondi.eu, Gvern Lokali and New Horizons Malta for the opportunity and coordination, and to the course facilitators Marilena Ciotescu and Gabrielle Balseanu!
