In November 2020 the Central Regional Council signed a contract proving collaboration with University of Malta, supported by Transport Malta, the Ministry of Health, the Environment and Resources Authority, the Planning Authority and the Office of the President of Malta.
The objectives of the project are:
Identifying and mapping safe travel;
Raising awareness about the need for active travel and its impacts on transport, health and the environment;
Provide up-to-date information infrastructures on the ground and on social media.
Active Travel Workshops are being organized around the Eastern Region to identify the measures required for active travel within the locality. Two workshops were held on 22/09/21 and 16/03/22.
