The Eastern Region Calendar 2024
As the Region of Culture 2024, the Eastern Regional Council has chosen to highlight the vibrant culture of the Eastern Region in its annual calendar for the year 2024.
The Eastern Region of Malta boasts an array of artistic talent across its 12 localities. This year, the Eastern Regional Council has dedicated each month to a different artist/tradesperson, showcasing the diverse range of talents within our region.
By attributing a specific artist to each month, our calendar transforms into a dynamic exhibition, capturing the essence of our local art scene from the old to the new. Residents now have the opportunity to discover new talents and appreciate the creative expressions that reflect our shared identity. Additionally, it encourages youths to take an interest in these trades, some of which are unfortunately fading away. Here are the 12 amazing artists/tradespersons:
1. January – Nicholas Sammut – Baker
2. February – Nadyanne Mangion – Ceramics
3. March – Aaron Pisani – Sculptor
4. April – Carmel Catania – Statues
5. May – Joseph Frendo Cumbo – Carpenter
6. June – Filomena Bezzina Wettinger – Ganutell
7. July – Nathaniel Micallef – Festive Pavilions
8. August – Brian Spiteri – Fireworks
9. September – Paul Borg – Fisherman
10. October – Charmaine Gerada – Filigree
11. November – Carmel Azzopardi – Stained Glass
12. December – Paul Muscat – Ceramic Pastors
In line with the previous year, we acknowledge the importance of waste management. The household waste collection schedule has been revamped once again to make it easier for residents to follow and adopt sustainable practices. Clear instructions on waste separation and disposal encourage individuals to actively contribute to the well-being of our community and the planet.
